Medlars are small trees of great character, the knarled and twisted trunk of a mature specimen rivals that of an olive tree. The tree has a slight weeping appearance. Grown as much for its attractive flowers and foliage as for the fruit. In autumn the foliage turns to lovely warm shades of gold and russet.

Medlar trees will thrive in deep, fertile, well-drained soil but will tolderate most soil types. They will do best in a warm, sheltered position in full sun or partial shade.
Medlars should be spaced according to their rootstock. Quince A – semi-dwarf rootstock requires approximately 4m(12ft) between trees.
Soak the area where you will be planting this tree and keep the tree well-watered afterwards.
