Corylus Avellana - Red Majestic, is an excellent small garden tree. Its twisted branches, purple foliage and winter catkins give it year-round interest. Indeed it is often referred to as the Purple Twisted Hazel. This tree will provide a long season of visual interest in the garden. In late winter, purple-red catkins hang suspended from the bare, twisted branches and are followed by dark red-purple foliage in spring, which turns green with a tinge of red in summer, and then finally burgundy in autumn.
The tree has a spreading habit.
Eventual size will be 3m(10ft) tall by 4m(12ft) across.
Planting Instructions
Ideally plant in a position in the full sun or only partially shaded. Best suited to chalky soils although is tolerant of most soil types.
The area where you planting the tree should be soaked prior to planting and keep well-watered afterwards.
